day 1 12-May-2008
Hannah for the first time in her mother's arms.
A happy, but also very exhausted mother.
Cleaned up and getting wired for monitoring.
Hello World!
Huh daddy, what's that? The first diaper.
day 2 13-May-2008
Mommy pays a short visit.
Little Hannah is sleeping most of the time.
Daddy helps with feeding (and cleaning, dressing, ...)
day 3 14-May-2008
Thankfully, mommy is now well enough to see Hannah frequently;
daddy does the chauffeur driving to and from the children's ward.
Sharing intimate looks... so, this is you?!
Of course, it's very cozy there.
Starting to breast feed... Hannah, your first task is to be a good sucker ;-)
(Don't worry, there is a thumb.)
Teamwork: Mommy feeds, daddy gives bottle and finishes up with a nice belly rub.
day 4 15-May-2008
Hannah is now sleeping next to her mom.
Nurses and midwives still help with baby care.
And she really likes it!
day 5 16-May-2008
Good news! The children's doctor gave the okay and sent mother and baby home. At first it feels a little bit frightening, suddenly being without the help of the nurses and midwives. But according to Yuko, the days and nights in hospital aren't really relaxing, neither (snoring neighbors, an entire family visiting someone). And sooner or later we have to learn to stand on our own feet, anyhow.
We left the hospital Friday at noon.
Hannah enjoys being together with both parents.
day 6 17-May-2008
She has a mobile bed, so that she can be wherever mommy and daddy are.
We are all a little bit tired.
For the first night, little Hannah did pretty well. She woke us up at 2:00, and started screaming. After an awful long time, we could finally calm her down with a fresh bottle of milk. Well fed and happy, she slept from 3:00 almost until 8:00 in the morning.
